Before you connect a TikTok Ads account to CreativeX, make sure you have the right level of access in TikTok Business Center. Without the correct permissions, the connection will fail, and CreativeX will not be able to collect your campaign and creative data.
This article explains how to confirm your access so you can move forward with confidence.
Why permissions matter
CreativeX requires Admin access in TikTok Business Center. This role gives you full control over the Business Center and allows you to manage users, link ad accounts, and grant partner access where needed.
If your role is set to Standard, you can still work within assigned accounts, but you will not have enough access to complete the connection to CreativeX.
How to check your permissions in TikTok Business Center
Follow these steps to confirm your role:
-
Log in to TikTok Business Center.
Open your TikTok Business Center account with the credentials you plan to use for the connection. -
Open the Members section.
In the left-hand navigation, go to Users, then select Members. -
Find your profile.
Locate your name or email address in the list of users. -
Check your role.
Look at the role listed next to your name.
If your role says Admin, you have the correct permissions. If your role says Standard, you will need extra access before you continue.
Understand the role types
Admin
This role gives you full control over the TikTok Business Center. You can manage users, link ad accounts, and partner with other Business Centers.
Standard
This role allows you to work within assigned accounts, but with limited permissions. This access level does not support all actions required for a CreativeX connection.
What to do if you do not have Admin access
If your role is Standard, contact an Admin in your organization and ask them to update your access. Once your role changes to Admin, you can return and complete the TikTok connection flow.
It helps to check this before you begin the setup process. That quick check can save time and prevent a failed connection later.
Troubleshooting
I cannot find the Members section.
Make sure you are logged into TikTok Business Center, not just TikTok Ads Manager. The Members section sits within the Business Center navigation.
My role says Standard.
You will need an Admin in your organization to update your permissions before you can connect the account to CreativeX.
I have Admin access, but the connection still fails.
Double-check that you are in the correct Business Center and that the ad account you want to connect belongs to that Business Center.
I manage more than one Business Center.
Make sure you check your role in the exact Business Center tied to the ad account you want to connect. Your access can differ across Business Centers.
I am not sure who the Admin is.
Review the Members list in TikTok Business Center. That list usually shows who has Admin access and who can help update your role.
