Check Your Account Permissions for YouTube / Google Ads

You try to connect your YouTube or Google Ads account, but something blocks the process. The account does not appear, or the connection fails without a clear explanation. In most cases, the issue comes down to permissions.

This guide shows how to confirm that you have the correct access so CreativeX can connect to your account and collect data successfully.


Before you check

Before you review permissions, confirm that:

  • Your ad accounts sit under a single Manager Account (MCC)

  • You can log in to the correct Google account

  • You have access to the account that owns the ad accounts you want to connect

This setup ensures CreativeX can access all accounts through one structure.


How to check your permissions

Follow these steps to confirm your access level:

Step 1: Log in to your Manager Account (MCC)

Go to Google Ads and sign in to your Google Ads Manager Accounts page

Step 2: Open access settings

Navigate to Tools & Settings
Under the Setup section, select Access and security

Step 3: Review users and roles

You will see a list of users along with their assigned roles

Step 4: Confirm your role

Find your name and check your permission level

  • If you see Admin, you have the correct access

  • If you see a lower level, you will need an Admin to update your permissions


Confirm CreativeX access

In the same Access and security section:

  • Check that CreativeX has been granted Read-Only access

  • This allows CreativeX to collect data without making changes to your account

This step is required for a successful connection.


Troubleshooting

I cannot see the account I need
Check that you logged into the correct Manager Account and confirm that the account sits under that MCC.
My role is not Admin
Ask an Admin user to update your permissions. Without Admin access, the connection will fail.
CreativeX does not appear in the user list
Add CreativeX with Read-Only access in the Access and security section.
I have Admin access but the connection still fails
Confirm that all accounts sit under one MCC and that the correct Google account is in use.
I see multiple Manager Accounts
Select the one that owns the ad account you want to connect. Access can differ across accounts.
