Connect Facebook and Instagram Ads Accounts via Partner Flow

If your team cannot use the OAuth connection or prefers a more controlled setup, the Partner Flow provides an alternative. This method allows you to manually connect specific ad accounts by sharing access through Meta Business Manager.

Before you begin

Before you start, confirm that you have the correct permissions in Meta Business Manager.

  • You must have Full Control (Admin-level access)
  • If you do not have this access, Meta will block the partner setup

You will also need:

  • The Ad Account ID
  • The Ad Account Name (exact match from Meta)

This process includes three stages. You must complete each step for the connection to work.

Stage 1: Start the connection in CreativeX

  1. Log in to CreativeX
  2. Navigate to Connections
  3. Select Link New Account
  4. Choose Facebook and Instagram Ads

  5. Select the Partner Flow option

You will now see a setup screen with input fields for your ad account details.

Stage 2: Add CreativeX as a partner in Meta

After you enter your account details, move to Meta Business Manager:

  1. Log in to Meta Business Manager
  2. Go to Business Settings
  3. Select Partners
  4. Click Add Partner
  5. Enter the CreativeX Business Manager ID:
    251399878599777
  6. Grant Insights (or View Performance) access only

This step gives CreativeX permission to read performance and creative data.

Stage 3: Enter your ad account details

Return to CreativeX and finish the setup. In the right-hand card, enter your account information exactly as it appears in Meta Business Manager.

  • In the first field, enter your Ad Account ID
    • Add act_ before the number
    • Example: act_987654321
    • Do not include any spaces

  • In the second field, enter your Ad Account Name
    • Copy and paste it exactly as shown in Meta
    • Do not add spaces before or after the name
    • Spaces within the name are fine

These fields must match Meta exactly. Even a small mismatch can block the connection.

  • Next, you will need to confirm that any associated Brand Pages are also linked to CreativeX.

  • Pages that are already assigned will appear with a green tick, while pages that still need action will display a red X. If a page appears in this list, you will need to link it to ensure CreativeX can pull in all content from the ad account.

  • Confirm the connection
  • Select the correct:
    • Brand
    • Market
    • Company Owner (the agency or company that manages the account)

Once complete, the account will appear as active in CreativeX.

What to expect after connection

After a successful setup:

  • CreativeX begins data collection from your ad account
  • Your account appears in the Ad Accounts view
  • Reports begin to reflect campaign activity

It may take a short period for data to appear depending on platform processing times.

Troubleshooting

I see an error message when I enter the account details
This usually means one of the following:

  • The Ad Account ID or Name is not entered correctly
  • CreativeX has not been added as a partner in Meta
  • CreativeX has been added with the wrong permissions

Make sure you grant Insights access only.

I entered the ID but it does not work
Check that:

  • The ID includes act_ at the start
  • There are no spaces anywhere in the field

The account name is rejected
Copy and paste the name directly from Meta Business Manager. Do not type it manually.

I added CreativeX as a partner but still see errors
Confirm that the correct Business Manager was used and that permissions were set to Insights.

The connection completes but data is missing
Check whether the correct Brand, Market, and Company Owner were selected and confirm that the correct ad account was shared.

I still see errors after checking everything
If none of the above resolves the issue, contact support@creativex.com and include the Ad Account ID and details of the error.
