When Facebook ad accounts are not connected, CreativeX cannot pull in the content your team needs to review. That gap can leave dashboards incomplete and make it harder to understand how Facebook and Instagram creative performs. This setup closes that gap by giving CreativeX read-only access to the ad account data tied to the Business Managers you approve.
This guide explains what you need before you start, how the OAuth flow works, and what to check before you confirm the connection. If your ad accounts use associated Brand Pages, you may also need to connect those pages separately through the connect associated Brand Pages guide.
Before you begin
Before you start, confirm that you have Full Control of the Business Manager in Meta. If any options appear greyed out or you cannot select them during setup, the Facebook user you used to sign in does not have enough access to complete the connection. In that case, use a different account or ask another member of your organization to complete the setup.
This check matters because the connection flow only shows Business Managers and ad accounts that your Facebook user can actually access. If the wrong person starts the process, the right accounts may never appear.
Connect your Facebook ad accounts
Follow these steps to link your accounts:
Log in to CreativeX
Open CreativeX and go to Connections in the side menu. Then select Link New Account.-
Choose the correct connection type
Select Facebook and Instagram Ads (OAuth). Sign in to Facebook
When prompted, log in with your Facebook account.Select the Business Managers you want to connect
CreativeX will show all Business Managers your Facebook user can access. Select the ones you want CreativeX to use. CreativeX can only collect data from the Business Managers you choose in this step.Leave the default permissions unchanged
Do not edit any permissions during the flow. If you change them, the connection may fail. The permissions in this flow come from Meta’s standard setup and give CreativeX read-only access to asset and performance information.-
Assign Brand, Market, and Partner values
After you select a Business Manager, press Continue and assign the correct Brand, Market, and Partner for each ad account. If all accounts use the same values, you can use the bulk association option. If not, enter the details for each account one by one. Load more accounts if needed
If your Business Manager has more than 25 ad accounts, select Load More so you can include the rest in the same session.Review everything carefully
Verify that each Brand, Market, and Partner association is correct. You can still edit these fields before the final step. Do not choose a listing that does not match the account, because incorrect mappings can lead to inaccurate data in reporting.Confirm the connection
On the final summary page, review the setup one more time and select Confirm to finish the connection and return to the Ad Account overview.
Once the setup is complete, your Facebook ad accounts will be linked to CreativeX.
What to expect after connection
After a successful connection:
CreativeX can collect data from the approved Business Managers and ad accounts
Your connected accounts appear in the Ad Account overview
You can monitor connection health from the Ad Accounts page
You can also opt in to email notifications to catch future connection issues quickly
If you cannot finish the process in one go, you can come back later and complete additional connections at another time.
Troubleshooting
I do not see the Business Manager I need
Your Facebook user may not have access to that Business Manager. Confirm that you signed in with the correct account and that the account has Full Control access.
Some options are greyed out
This usually means your Facebook account does not have enough permission to complete the setup. Try again with another eligible user or ask an admin in your organization to help.
I changed the permissions during setup and now the connection fails
Restart the flow and keep the default permissions unchanged. The article notes that editing permissions can prevent the connection from completing.
I have more than 25 ad accounts and cannot see all of them
Select Load More during setup so the rest of the accounts appear in the same session.
I am not sure how to map Brand, Market, and Partner
Pause before you confirm. Incorrect mappings can create inaccurate reporting, so it is worth checking the right values before you finish. The fields remain editable before final confirmation.
My Facebook ad accounts are connected, but content is still missing
Connecting Facebook ad accounts is the minimum step required to pull content into CreativeX, but if your accounts use associated Brand Pages, you may also need to connect those pages separately.
