Check Your Account Permissions for X (Twitter)

Before you connect your X (Twitter) Ads account to CreativeX, you need to confirm that you have the correct level of access. Without the right permissions, the connection will fail and CreativeX will not be able to collect your data.

This guide walks you through how to check your permissions so you can move forward with confidence.


Why permissions matter

CreativeX requires Account Administrator access on your X Ads account. This level of access allows CreativeX to securely read your creative and performance data.

If your role does not meet this requirement, the platform will block the connection step.


How to check your permissions in X (Twitter)

Follow these steps to confirm your access level:

Step 1: Log in to X Ads

Go to ads.X.com and sign in with your account credentials

Step 2: Open account access settings

In the top-right corner, select your ad account name

From the dropdown menu, choose Edit access to account

Step 3: Review your role

You will see a list of users who have access to the account

Find your username in the list and check the role displayed next to it

  • If you see Account Administrator, you have the correct permissions

  • If you see a different role, you will need additional access


What to do if you do not have the right permissions

If your role is not listed as Account Administrator:

  • Contact a colleague who manages the X Ads account

  • Ask them to update your role to Account Administrator

Only users with the correct permissions can connect the account to CreativeX.

Troubleshooting

I cannot find the “Edit access to account” option
Make sure you are logged into the correct X Ads account. Some users may only have access to organic accounts, not Ads Manager.

My role is not Account Administrator
You will need to request access from someone who manages the account. Only administrators can grant this role.

I see multiple ad accounts and I am unsure which one to check
Select each account from the dropdown and confirm your role for the correct one.

I have the correct role but still cannot connect the account
Log out and sign back in, then try again. If the issue continues, confirm that your CreativeX user also has the correct permissions.
