When you build a new campaign, you might want distinct rules for different media formats. For example, a video might require a sound check, while a static graphic does not. You can easily customize your brand rules to apply specifically to videos, images, or both. Let's review how to configure these format-specific parameters.
Step 1: Customize Your Criteria
Every guideline allows customization based on several criteria. You can tailor rules by brand, market, channel, or video length. Within this setup, you have the option to apply a rule exclusively to videos, exclusively to images, or to both formats. To understand these rules better, read our guide on what your brand's guidelines mean.
Step 2: Understand GIF Conversions
If you use GIFs, you must understand how the platform processes them. When the system retrieves live In-Flight GIFs from Meta, it receives them as MP4 videos. The system cannot detect if these files originated as GIFs.
Step 3: Prepare Pre-Flight Files
Because of this platform conversion, you must convert any GIFs to MP4 format before you submit them for a Pre-Flight evaluation. This ensures the system scores them correctly as videos and provides an accurate result before your campaign goes live.
| Media Format | System Treatment | Action Required |
|---|---|---|
| Image | Evaluated as a static image. | Select 'Image' in your guideline setup. |
| Video | Evaluated as a video with motion and sound. | Select 'Video' in your guideline setup. |
| GIF | Evaluated as an MP4 video. | Convert to MP4 prior to Pre-Flight submission. |
Troubleshooting
Did you encounter a roadblock with your media formats?
- Unexpected Rule Failures: If an image fails a video-specific rule, check your guideline configuration to ensure you selected the correct media format.
- GIF Evaluation Errors: If your GIF receives an inaccurate Pre-Flight score, you likely forgot to convert it. You must convert the file to an MP4 and resubmit it for a proper evaluation.
